Point: GV20

Location:

7 cun directly above the midpoint of the posterior hairline, or at the junction of the mid-line at the vertex with the line joining the two ear apexes.

Functions:

1. Extinguish Liver wind and subdue Liver yang (Headache, dizziness, insomnia, vertigo).

2. Clear senses and calm spirit (mental disease, loss of memory, depression).

3. Lift up fallen Yang Qi and discharge blazing heat in Yang channel (prolapse condition, strengthen Yang function of Spleen).

Indication:

1. Treat dizziness (acupuncture for the Excessive syndrome and moxibustion for Deficiency syndrome)

2. Treat diseases of the brain: insomnia, forgetfulness, stroke, psychosis, epilepsy, various kinds of headache.

3. Prolapse of rectum, prolapse of stomach or uterus, prolonged diarrhoea.

[Acupoint Dazhui]below the spinous process of the 7th cervical vertebra.

Dazhui(GV14) is an acupuncture point in the meridian named Governor Vessel. It is the crossing point of GV with the six yang meridians (Shaoyang Sanjiao Meridian of Hand, Taiyang Small Intestine Meridian of Hand, Yangming Large Intestine Meridian of Hand, Shaoyang Gall Bladder Meridian of Foot, Taiyang Bladder Meridian of Foot, Yangming Stomach Meridian of Foot ) of the hand and foot.

Location

On the mid-line of the base of the neck, in the depression below the spinous process of the 7th cervical vertebra(C7) .

Indication

1. Relieve exterior syndromes so is good for febrile disease, tidal fever to yin-deficiency, night sweats, malaria.

2. Help to expand the chest, stop coughing and wheezing: Cough and asthma

3. Expel internal wind : tremors, convulsions

4. Good for Psychosis, epilepsy, infantile convulsion

5. Local problems: back and nape stiffness and pain

6. Rubella, acne.
